Imagine what the world would be like if there were no writers or books. People would be walking around the earth and in stores they would walk around mindlessly not knowing some of the greatest authors of books. If we had no authors or books, what would it be like without great authors like Carl Hiaasen, Suzanne Collins, and J.K Rowling? These authors made great books like Hoot by Carl Hiaasen Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mocking Jay by Suzanne Collins and the Harry Potter Series by J.K Rowling. Without writing we would have no legal documents like the Declaration of Independence. We would have no emails or texts messages to talk to people from long distances away. The world would be chaos! No one would be able to communicate properly, and this would be a very awful thing not even for us, but for the world.

When I worked on my non-narrative writing piece this year in Language Arts Writer’s Workshop, I learned certain skills such as noticing your world and create bold statements that expresses your opinion or your topic. This means to state what you believe that is true and then express yourself about it. If the piece relates to the story always, reference the text, organize your writing, clear topic sentences, write with varied sentences, have personal connections to ring voice to the piece and last but no least have your conclusion support your bold statement.

I chose my non-narrative for my reflection because I really cared about the topic. I knew I had to research and write about what I knew.

I believe I improved as a writer by using varied sentences, using similies and stating my claim on non-narrative writing pieces, but I think I can improve on many different skills. I can improve on writing a bold statement to prove, and if I can do that I think I can be a very good writer in the future and further on.
